Iolite

IOLITE is a magnesium aluminum silicate mineral with an orthorhombic crystal structure and a hardness of 7 to 7.5. The name lolite comes from the stone's violet color. The most important Iolite deposits are in Brazil, Madagas-car, Burma, India and Sri Lanka.
